Soldiers from the 37F/38B AIT donate $600 to the American Red Cross April 29, 2011 in a ceremony at Bank Hall on Ft. Bragg. This amazing group of men and women wanted to assist in the recovery efforts from April 16th's devastating tornados in as many ways as they could. Not only did they assist physically in clean up efforts one afternoon, but they went above and beyond and raised money to support the Highlands Chapter of the American Red Cross and families impacted by the tornados.
"Part of being a soldier is donating your time and giving of yourself to support your community. I try to volunteer and help out at home, so I wanted to help out here, as well" said Private First Class Gamboa who was one of the presenters in Friday morning's ceremony.
The American Red Cross Highlands Chapter Executive Director, Victoria Raleigh and Miss Fayetteville, Katie Mills accepted the donations in a presentation ceremony on April 29th. Miss Mills, whose platform during her reign is the American Red Cross said "The Red Cross is an organization that everyone can benefit from. I was grateful to get to spend today with these brave men and women who are supporting a cause so important to me."
The Red Cross is so appreciative of the efforts of these soldiers who are here training for ten weeks. Their support of the Red Cross and the Fayetteville community is amazing and we thank them.
